Weather and Climate
Glacier National Park's biome can range from decreased elevation pacific cedar-hemlock forest to high alpine tundra. The average temperature in the winter season is about 30 degrees Fahrenheit. The average temperature in the summer season is about 80 degrees Fahrenheit. In the winter season, the snow and precipitation allows many visitors to participate in activities such as cross country skiing and snowshoeing. In the summer season, the temperature and precipitation amounts allow activities such as camping, fishing, boating, bicycling, and hiking.

When preparing to travel to Glacier National Park, make sure you pack clothes that can be worn year-round. For example, you could pack T-shirts, shorts, rain gear, parka, etc. The two main climates that you will face when visiting Glacier National Park are Arctic Continental and Pacific Maritime. At higher elevations, the temperature is usually 10-15 degrees cooler. On the east side of the park, there are primarily strong winds and sunny days. During the night, the temperature can drop to nearly 20 degrees Fahrenheit. At Glacier National Park snow can fall any time during the year. For example, there was a foot of snow on the northeastern corner of Glacier National Park in August of 1992.
